Maxima is delighted to host some of Lexington and Arlington's wonderful local authors on Independent Bookstore Day! Each author will read from their work, and then be available to sign books and answer questions.

Book Summary:
Twenty-five different foods, grouped by color, are nutritionally decoded in this reference book for the preschool set.
From grapes to beets and oatmeal to cashews, this reference book highlights and explains the benefits of 25 fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains, each grouped into color categories and presented with the mind and body benefits they offer. Carefully crafted one-sentence explanations from author Toni Buzzeo provide the perfect amount of information for the preschool audience, and illustrator Serge Bloch’s charming and humorous art makes this an entertaining and uniquely appetizing reference book of food facts.
About the Author:
Toni Buzzeo has authored twenty-eight picture books for children, including Pa, Me, and Our Sidewalk Pantry, and Light Comes to Shadow Mountain (also available for purchase at Maxima!). Endlessly enthusiastic, Toni draws on her career experiences as an elementary school librarian in crafting her books and speaking with audiences of children in schools and libraries. Toni lives in Arlington, Massachusetts, just downstairs from her two lovable grandchildren (endless sources of inspiration!) and their devoted parents. Book Summary:
Walk around the neighborhood with Felipe the Feeling Frog, who learns that there is no such thing as a bad feeling! In this kid-friendly social and emotional learning book, children will learn different strategies for regulating emotions and identifying their feelings.
In Felipe the Feeling Frog, Felipe learns that there are easy feelings and there are hard feelings. Felipe and the other Caring Critters display different emotions of sad, happy, angry, frustrated, excited, and lonely. These characters then model different emotional regulation skills. At the end of the book, there is a list of strategies to support children in transferring these skills to their own regulating emotion skills.
About the Author:
Zeba McGibbon is a kindergarten teacher at Bridge Elementary School, Lexington, Massachusetts, founder of the website The Kindergarten Cafe, host of the podcast by the same name, and is now the newly published author of her debut children's book, Felipe the Feeling Frog! This is the first installment of her series, Caring Critters.

How to Play
Visit as many bookstores as you can on Saturday, April 27th , and Sunday, April 28th. At each stop, get your passport booklet stamped! (You can download a printable version on the North of Boston Book Trail website starting April 15th, or pick up a physical novelty passport booklet at your first stop!)
At your last stop of the weekend, ask for a completion form from the bookseller to provide your information and mark where you visited to be entered in the prize drawings.
A random drawing will be conducted on May 8th to select the winners. No purchase is required to participate.
